Hey All,
Just wanted to drop the results of the scrim for 3-24-13 and talk about somethings that were suggested during the scrim.
Let's start with the results.
1st round: Kalt with a tie of 33-33 2nd Round: Saints with a crushing axis victory of 458-274.
Congrats to the Axis team on their victory and better luck next time to the allies.
Now let's talk about some things that were suggested during the scrim. We saw an ok turn out tonight but it has been suggested that we should move the time of the scrim to during the day, so please post whether or not you agree with this idea. If you do want to, please post a time of what sounds good for you. Also, if you would like to have all talk off during the scrims please post about that as well. Some people have said that would help to improve communications within the teams. Peace, Cows

I think the Scrim went well for a first shot. Thanks for setting it up. The details need to be set before the scrim. Such as password, who is going to be there and subs who can be spectators but available to go in when needed. Can not have people coming in and then going AWOL during the game. Not fair to those who are playing and those who want to paly. Rules should be posted and how the scrim is going to be setup. If it is not set up then we can always wing it like we did last night. We can lock down the server 10 mins before the match to work things out and just tell peeps we are going to close it for a scrim and invite those who are regs to join us if we are short people. We need a non-playing offical to spectate who can kick Afk's and ask others to join in their place. Just some of my ideas. It is not easy to get a scrim or match running smoothly. Yes we need to start it early, before the witching hour : ). Sunday is fine with me. Again it was not that bad and will bet better as we learn how to run it.

Ok so I would like to build on what yessir said. I think it would be fair that the people that come in late should have to wait to play until the teams can be balanced or until someone leaves so that no one side has an advantage over the other due to the extra player. I know it seems unfair to those who have to work late or something like that but in a scrim you do want to keep everything as level as possible. Also, if we could get say a calendar for the scrims or may be a forum post for each week's scrim for everyone to say if they could play or not that would be super cool.
Peace
Matt/Cows

Ok ya this sunday is no good. I think for everyone.
As for the scrims we need the following:
1. Pick teams in beggining 2. A time limit of 20 min axis- switch sides and 20 min allies 3. All talk off. leaders stay on one team until rules are set. then talk thru steam friends. 4. Have someone from each side post an After Action Report on the forums. Time, Date, map, roster, highlights and score. Ill vollunteer for the first for examples. This gives people something to look forward to, acheivments and some bragging room. 5. Weapons restrictions. ex. 5v5 would be 2 rifles, 1 light, 1 heavy, 1 sniper and so on keeps it even. So everyone post a good time for this.

Dear Foshey,
You have some good suggestions there. Here are my thoughts.
1. Sounds good to me.
2. I like this idea, but I have a slight suggestion. I agree with the team switch but 15 minutes sounds better since, last time I checked, the time limit for each map is 30 minutes and we would have to edit the server variable and undo the change after we are done with the scrim.
3. Agreed. Honestly though, a guild vent/ts would solve all of the communication problems beautifully and we could leave all talk on so that the admins could communicate if they needed to without having to switch channels in a vent or ts. However, the guild bank is not always full and we don't have the money to buy a server and a ts.
4. Umm why one from each team? You really don't need to get super complicated with it, just who won, roster, results and then discuss anything relevant that happened. It's a fun guild scrim not a tournament. Also, I already did this for the one on Sunday. I'll just be more detailed next time. See reply 7 if you want to leave me some suggestions.
5. This is an idea but only if everyone agrees to it. However if someone doesn't agree that one person gets left out due the majority overruling his or her decision and eventually the odd man or woman out will stop coming to the scrims. Everyone is going to want to have their favorite gun honestly and its gonna start drama if someone doesn't get what they want. We want to keep the scrims to where everyone can have fun and enjoy time with each other.
As for time, Wednesday evening around 7 maybe 8?

Wednesday is great. at 7 or 8 est. or pst?
Your right 15 min a side would be fine. As for all talk on, I have never been in a scrim with it on. You should communicate with your team only. Stratagies, tactics and positions with alltalk on just warns them and makes it so you have no strategy. I ran a realism unit for 3 years and we had inner scrims with 10 v10 twice a week, you set basic scrim rules and everyone obeys them. That is the difference between pubbing and a scrim. Its more about teamwork and sportsmanship.
AAR's are good. Yes a report on the scrim is fine by one person. (Which cows was very nice) But its more personal with 2. You get 1 for your team, by your team, for your team. Actually on our forums jackson's and myself had for our unit we had someone make medals for each individual in the unit for all of their achievments over long period of time. like 60 members at one point. So at the bottom of each post you would see instead of a signature it would be a display case with all of your awards and medals in it from each of the alotted scrims. Alot of work but rewarding. Fun, But not nessesary.
Weapons should be limited. Balances it out. Ex. 5 k98's in the hands of experts are deadly. Same with garands......3 and a light or 2 and a heavy would be better but whatever is fine.
